It is the spring of the third year since I moved to Shari from Tokyo.
The distance from Shari, where I live, to Utoro, where I work, is about 36 km, although they are both in the same town. It took me 40 minutes each way to commute to work each day.
In the midst of this repetitive life, I became interested in a genre of music called minimal techno, which consists of minimal development and repetitive sounds, and it seems quite natural now.
Every time I listened to minimal techno music while commuting to work, my desire to create music increased, but I was not interested in creating music using a synthesizer, and I spent many days wondering what I should do.
Then one day, I found a 7-inch record store "JUICErecords" in Shari-cho that contained old Hokkaido songs released 57 years ago.
I usually use sampling, a method of cutting and reconstructing existing sound sources, when I make music, so I decided to make a minimal techno track on that 7-inch.
I sampled from the 7" except for the bass drum and hi-hat for the rhythm and started working on it.
The track itself was completed in about a month, and I had a lot of fun during the production. I am planning to make another minimal techno track next time.
I could have started distributing this sound in May, but I decided to make a CD, handmake the box, and attach a handmade Shari brooch to it, so it took a lot of time.
The box was printed by Hayato of Greenwoods, a silk-screening company in Shari, and the brooch was printed by Torch Bookstore (Sapporo). And I asked yaritake, the owner of "Ikenya Curry Komin" in Kushiro, to remix the book, which is only a special offer for Torch Bookstore (Sapporo).
Although it has only been three years, I think I have created a soundtrack that is uniquely my own, filled with the Hokkaido inside of me.
